TREATMENTS

Let’s set the scene……
Imagine that you are sitting on a comfortable couch in a beautifully decorated, purpose-built space, with your feet up.
You have complete privacy and no anxiety about other people seeing your feet. Any feelings of embarrassment have melted away. You’re thinking to yourself ‘Why did I not do this sooner, this is great!’.
No home or work pressures. Just you and me having a good old chat about anything and everything. All whilst having your foot care treatment tailored to your needs.
That fear of your feet being touched is now a distant memory. No more endless shopping trips trying to find the right products without success. You now feel at ease and reassured as Jane finishes your treatment with nourishing foot cream and a gentle foot massage.
Before you leave, Jane gives you a foot care starter pack to encourage you on your journey to healthy and happy feet. What an experience!
Why the Foot Scientist is different
The Foot Scientist offers a unique foot health concept, completely different from the usual services offered elsewhere. Your feet will be cared for as part of any wider health issues you may have.
When it comes to common foot health issues, I select techniques that are safe for you and always work with you to prevent the risk of developing any further problems. If I am unable to help with a specific issue, I will refer you on to a healthcare professional who can, whether that is a Podiatrist, your GP, or a Tissue Viability Nurse.

Initial consultation and treatment - up to 1h 10:
All NEW foot health clients must book this service as their first appointment. Verrucae or nail reconstruction patients should instead book the Verrucae and wart treatment or Nail reconstruction respectively – even if they have not been seen by Jane previously.
I will take a detailed medical history and undertake a comprehensive analysis to include a visual inspection and neurovascular assessment of the feet and lower limbs.
This service also includes nail cutting and shaping, initial callus and corn reduction as time allows, foot cream application, future treatment recommendations and planning as necessary. For example, we can discuss how best to treat a fungal nail infection you might have or decide on a longer-term strategy for the correction and management of dry, cracked heels.
Routine follow-up foot health appointment - up to 55 mins:
- Routine foot care / nail trims
- Painful calluses and corns
- Fungal nail and skin infections
- Ingrown toenails
- Cracked heels
- Hard skin removal
- Yellow or thickened toe nails
- Verrucae
If you have not been seen by Jane previously, please book an ‘Initial Consultation and Treatment’ appointment in the first instance.

Non surgical correction of ingrown toenails - up to 1h 10:
The application of a nail bracing system offers pain-free treatment for involuted nails or nails that tend to grow in at the sides – as is often seen on the big toes.
Working with applied tension, this non-surgical treatment offers a great option for nails that are a constant source of discomfort and where the patient would prefer to avoid nail surgery.
Nails can take up to 12 months to correct, and you will need several appointments. However, you will obtain relief very quickly after the first application.
Nails on smaller toes and children’s toes are also suitable for nail bracing.
Verrucae and wart treatment (hands or feet) - up to 1h 10:
I offer a range of effective treatments for verrucae and warts, including cryotherapy, Verrutop®, other topical treatments and occlusion.
As every patient is unique, I will take the time to understand your medical history and lifestyle, working with you to decide on the treatment option best suited to you.
My aim is always to provide safe, gentle, and effective care that fits seamlessly into your daily life.

Persistent fungal nail infection - up to 1h 10:
If you have not been seen by Jane previously, please book an ‘Initial Consultation and Treatment’ appointment in the first instance.
Fungal nail infections can affect both toenails and fingernails, leaving them thickened, discoloured, or brittle. At The Foot Scientist, Jane offers a thorough, professional service to not only treat the infection but also support you in preventing it from coming back.
Your treatment plan will always be tailored to your medical history and personal preferences. As part of your care:
- Testing – Jane will take nail samples to be sent for laboratory testing, ensuring an accurate diagnosis.
- Treatment options explained – You’ll be guided through the availability, benefits, and risks of systemic treatments (oral antifungal medication provided by your GP), as well as topical treatments which can be used instead of — or alongside — systemic options. Jane will clearly explain the pros, cons, and any contraindications so you can make an informed choice.
- Self-care guidance – You’ll receive detailed advice on how to reduce cross-contamination between footwear, clothing, and other areas of the body, helping to prevent reinfection.
Once a positive fungal result is confirmed, treatment includes:
✔️ Preparation of the nails by removing diseased areas of the nail plate
✔️ Gentle debridement of any remaining thickened nail and utilisation of the Lacuna Method (tiny holes are drilled painlessly into the nail to allow treatment to penetrate) where needed.
✔️ Provide or suggest topical treatments that are that are suitable for use by you and based on current evidence-based national guidelines
✔️ Provide ongoing care, with routine debridement / Lacuna at follow-up appointments until the infection is resolved
This combined approach ensures your treatment is safe, effective, and supported by expert care every step of the way.
Nail reconstruction for damaged or fungal nails (hands or feet) - up to 1h 30:
Safe and effective nail reconstruction for damaged or fungal nails on the hands or feet.
This treatment is also suitable for most patient’s who have had ingrowing toenails removed surgically.
£60.00 for a single big toe nail, £75.00 for both big toe nails, £60.00 for 3-5 small nails and £55.00 for 1-2 small nails.
The reconstructed nails are designed to last for 8-12 weeks.
These prices include preparation and treatment of nail(s).

Hard skin removal / dry, cracked heels - up to 55 mins:
Hard skin (callus) and corns are carefully and painlessly removed using a sterile scalpel, before the skin on the feet is gently smoothed with an eFile. The treatment is finished with the application of a nourishing foot cream, leaving your feet feeling comfortable, refreshed, and beautifully soft.
Jane will also provide personalised advice on how to reduce the recurrence of hard skin and share simple self-care steps to keep your feet healthy and looking their best between appointments.
If there are signs that an underlying health condition may be contributing to the build-up of hard or cracked skin, Jane will ensure you are referred to the appropriate healthcare professional for further support.
